May 26, 2021: a favorite author and illustrator of mine died. When I heard the news of Eric Carle's death, I was surprised of the sorrow I felt and of the wonderful memories his name evoked for me. I spent so many happy hours reading his books to my kids (and they in turn reading them to me and anyone who would sit and listen). Visits to the local library always included one or two or more of his books chosen to go home with us. It really was a wonderful time and I will always be grateful for the memories Mr. Carle made possible for me.
He lived in Key Largo and summered in Massachusetts and there is even a Museum in Amherst to go and see his art. If interested: https://www.carlemuseum.org/
PS - Just thought I would share. Isn't this what the blog is for?
Peace / rr

I am so glad you posted this! Besides reading to my kids, I spent hours reading them to my students in various grades. Now when I work at the Y in the childcare department, they are super popular too. His books never got too repetitive even if I read them 5x in a row.
I saw the news on the evening News and it struck a chord with me even though I have not read the book. I do know that he brought love to many children. He will be missed by many.
