I am in complete Awe at the sear volume of donations we have received as well as the passionate support from friends, family and our community some of whom have never had the benefit of meeting Lauren.  I struggled with the decision to create this GoFundMe as I tend to be a private person but managed to swallow my pride for the greater benefit of my daughter and family.

This experience has been overwhelming in so many ways, it has shown me how strong my daughter is physically and emotionally as well as how amazing my wife, as she has been there for me in ways, I never knew were possible.  We are moving forward and scheduling surgeries and see a point when Lauren is no longer in pain every day and is able to experience a more normal life.

Once again, I want to thank each and every one who has supported my daughter whether it was through donations, prayers or well wishes.  It has been an emotional rollercoaster and I would not be here right now without all the love and support.  If you would like more information or help support, please visit our GoFundMePage

Lauren Rohan Needs your Help and Prayers

 Hello Friends and Family,

It is with heavy heart and great optimism that I am creating this Fund Raiser. As many of you know my daughter Lauren Rohan, has been battling several diseases since early childhood, including Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crohn’s Disease and Gastroparesis.

She has been receiving medical care since the first diagnosis, but those medications and treatments come with multiple side effects and unintended consequences. Many of you will remember her Quinceanera, a beautiful and enjoyable event just days after Lauren was discharged from the hospital where she had been admitted for rapid weight loss and an inflamed and swollen intestinal track, with slight perforations. Through the miracle of Prednisone she was refitted for her dress and danced the night away.
Fast forward to today, now, after years of treatments and medications, the side effects have caused deterioration of her teeth and jaw. Lauren needs a complete jaw replacement and arch reconstruction. This includes the extraction of ALL of her teeth, to be replaced with dental implants.

This will be a very painful and long process. While Lauren is mentally prepared and understands the challenges she is going to face for the rest of her life, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, apparently, does not consider “teeth” and the “ability to eat,” “medical necessities” and refuses to cover any associated costs. Without insurance coverage, our estimated out of pocket expenses right now are well in excess of $190,000. Last year we spent just over $18,000 trying to save her teeth with multiple root canals, crowns and individual implants. That process has now come to an end, with multiple oral surgeons having informed us that we really only have one way forward, the way outlined above. Due to current infections in her teeth and gums, we have to follow through with their advice, while simultaneously, continuing to fight for insurance coverage. We are hoping to raise as much as possible toward Lauren’s healthcare needs, to give her the best opportunities available. She will turn 19 years old on April 7th, shortly after which she will complete her second year of college at Coastal Carolina. Positive thoughts and prayers, would likewise be greatly appreciated! MANY THANKS & MUCH LOVE!!!

I know our family has many technically and medically inclined members, so I have listed the medical coding of the necessary procedures.

We set up a Go Fund Me with the link below. Prayers and we'll wishes are greatly appreciated also.
